week one: mingle
WEEK ONE
The sun rises on your third day on the island. The hours have passed almost seamlessly since your arrival, though it's difficult to say what time it truly is. The previously roaring sea has calmed to gentle, rocking waves and the weather is prime for taking a swim. Have you settled into your camps? Made a few friends? Perhaps now is the time to meet and greet those you haven't spoken to yet...it's not as if you'll be going anywhere anytime soon.
Regardless of how you spend your morning, as the sun reaches the highest point in the sky all will begin to hear a low, deep thrumming sort of sound. The humming slowly turns into ringing, a drawn-out signal that grows louder and louder until it seems as though all other sounds on the island fall to a hush.
It's then all will hear an unidentifiable voice:
Just as quickly as it came, the announcement comes to a close. No matter how hard one searches the island, it will be impossible to locate the source of the announcement. But don't let that stop you. Maybe it's time for a deeper exploration? Make the best of your daylight hours.
After all...when the night falls, things may be a little different. Watch your backs, everyone.

"Welcome aboard. Your arrival is no mistake, and your will is your own. All of you have been brought to this island to partake in an ancient ritual. No more than ten of your own may leave this island alive; eleven of you must be prepared and offered as sacrifices to ensure the survival of these ten. If you run out of time, the outcome for all will be dire. You have two weeks' time before all shall be lost."

OOC NOTES
Welcome to week one! Congratulations on surviving the weekend, we're excited to get the game rolling!
At this time, characters are now free to further explore the island! All comments will be screened, but please be as thorough as possible in your requests.
On Wednesday, your modteam will post A THING that will impact all in-game. Stay tuned, and perhaps it's best to set your prompts for Monday and Tuesday...
...speaking of prompts, please specify if your prompts are in the day or during the night on this mingle! This may be in your header, or you may specify in your comment itself. There may be a fun surprise or two waiting for you.
And finally, please be sure to submit any weekend PCs to the appropriate subthread on the PC page, and please be sure to submit week one PCs as they're created! If you have not mass added everyone, please be sure to do so.
Please feel free to ask questions in the question channel on Discord, or you may DM Britt & Ty privately. We will also have announcements regarding curfew and body announcement on Thursday and Friday. Thank you, and have fun!

b3po...........
Hey, C3PO! [He's not getting up just yet, but he turns towards the droid, his eyes glancing down at the pack in his hands.] Haha, you got a present for me or something?
[He seems to be perfectly fine with C3PO calling him by his name, hm.]
it's one better than c3po
Yes! Well, of sorts. More like a gift of reconciliation, really.
[He pulls from the bag—which you can now see is labeled "C-3PO"—a folding knife identical to the one Anaido dropped previously.]
I must admit, I was surprised to learn there was a pack for me as well. Typically droids aren't included in such considerations. I wonder if there was some kind of mistake...
no subject
[He glances at the knife, then at C3PO, like he's unsure how to react. A new knife, huh...]
Well, maybe they wanted to be fair to you too. [The people running this island thing are NOT ROBOT RACIST, who knew. Anaido's face breaks out in a wide smile.] And no, no, no, keep it! It belongs to you, C3PO! It has your name on it and everything.
no subject
[He leans toward Anaido conspiratorially and lowers his voice to something like a stage-whisper, which is maybe the quietest he's capable of being]
that announcement earlier seems to have caused a stir among the island's residents; there's far more activity and a general air of mistrust. I'm quite perceptive of these things, you know.
I wouldn't wish for you to be unable to defend yourself should someone mistake you for a participant in this barbaric "ancient ritual," seeing as you're having trouble recalling your identity at the moment.
no subject
Hm. [He nods at the conspiratorial whispering.] That's very kind of you...really. But do you really think it will come to that? Everyone seems very nice so far. Honestly, I think you should worry about yourself. Someone might think its easier to take apart a machine than kill a human being...
no subject
Personally, I don't think there's anything to worry about, so long as we don't interfere in whatever local custom this "ancient ritual" happens to be.
However, seeing as no one I've encountered seems to know where it is to take place, and a few even think that they're unwillingly involved just by nature of being on the island, I would caution you against such things as [
randomly sleeping in spooky ruins??] being away from camp on your own.Have you learned anything else since your arrival? Either about yourself or our situation?
no subject
Ah...that's interesting. You say "local custom" like its what the people who naturally live here do, right? But what if no one naturally lives here? This did have a resort at one point, but that actually makes me think people came here on vacation or something, instead of living here like its their home.
[He taps at his chin thoughtfully - but then breaks out into a smile at the question. Yes! He has an answer for that!]
I remembered a little about myself, yes! I'm Anaido! I'm a brilliant detective that was sent to solve Kaeru-kun's murder! [And he stretches out his hand for a shake.] Nice to meet you again, C3PO!
"lose his knife somewhere" rip
Oh, wonderful news, sir!
[He gently but happily shakes his hand.
Then,]
Well, not about the murder. I must say, you seem quite different to most detectives I've seen.
