WEEK TWO: TRIAL
Morning dawns bright and early the day after the announcement of the dead, and as the sun tracks its way across the sky, the voice's message is likely not far from anyone's mind. Friends are still missing, people are still dead, and time is running out.
Finally, the sun reaches its highest point. A low, deep thrumming sound echoes throughout the entire island, which turns into ringing, a drawn-out signal that grows louder and louder until it seems as though all other sounds on the island fall to a hush.
It is then that the lighthouse beacon becomes illuminated, drawing them all to the southern beach. That same voice as before rings, audible throughout the entire island.
Once the entire group has gathered, the lighthouse's beacon flickers out.
It is time to choose the next sacrifice... and hopefully, to catch a killer.
Good luck.

"There are those of you who hope to escape from this with clean hands...you may find yourselves successful. Will it be worth it? You are all participants in this game, and you will all be complicit in the sacrifices that take place here, or else you will not have earned your passage home. Twenty-four hours remain before the ritual must be completed, or you will all suffer the consequences. There is no consolation prize for less than eleven sacrifices.
You have until the sun vanishes beneath the horizon. Choose your next sacrifice, and choose who will dispatch them. Speak the names of your choices into the conch. Failure to cooperate will result in a fate worse than death.
...perhaps you should investigate the deaths. The bodies are out there, and the evidence as well... but you will have to find it yourselves.
...oh, and one more thing. There is a way to save yourselves...if you select the right sacrifice.
Tick-tock, tick-tock! Your time starts... now."
Once the entire group has gathered, the lighthouse's beacon flickers out.
It is time to choose the next sacrifice... and hopefully, to catch a killer.
Good luck.
OOC NOTES
Welcome to your last trial, everyone! This trial will take place from 9am PST/12pm EST/4am NZST, and will last until 6pm PST/9pm EST/1pm NZST.
There will be a one-hour trial break from 1pm PST/4pm EST/8am NZST to 2pm PST/5pm EST/9am NZST. We recommend that you use this time to get something to eat if you haven't yet already, play some Animal Crossing, or even just take a quick nap. During this time, no mod tags will go out; we also ask that players refrain from starting any intensive threads such as interrogations, strip searches, hair or injury comparisons, etc. While we're not going to say you're not allowed to tag during this time, we also don't want anyone to miss out on anything important during an official break.
Please remember to have your character cast a vote on the voting page! Voting is mandatory, as it functions as the activity check for the game. If you do not cast a vote by the time trial is over, your character will be killed off. Please contact the mods prior to the end of the trial if something comes up and you are prevented from voting (i.e. 504 errors, etc).
If you have any questions, please go ahead and ask! Your mods and fellow players are always here to help. And most of all... have fun!

buuuut if there's nothing else that stands out at camp. rachel will follow the footprints out to the waterfall, pausing to compare her foot size to the prints. ]
no subject
... Do you think someone got thrown off the waterfall again?
[ she really hopes not ]
no subject
as they get closer to the waterfall they will see what looks like an unmoving body on the rocks, getting pelted with ... falling water.]
no subject
[ cool! if we get closer can we see who it is without. actually having to go out there yet. ]
no subject
[ she hates being right. she also hates going closer!! but she will.
any footprints leading to this area or anything nifty... ]
no subject
looks like they've found akane! from this distance it's hard to make out any details about the state of her body though.
also, there are a lot of footprints here. many of them lead up to the top of the waterfall, where marie fell to her death last week. i don't think y'all understand just how many pcs happened at the waterfall, guys.]
no subject
Do you want to go after her, or should I?
[ she will drop both the canteens and the staff if she has to, but. she also doesn't want to touch a body unless absolutely necessary. ]
no subject
she sighs. ]
No, I can do it - can you go back to camp and get my sleeping bag? So we can transport her back to the others...
[ and with that, Minako will strip off her socks and shoes (and mp3 player) and start
clambering over to Akane's body. great. ]
no subject
the bad news is, since she's just... hanging out under the water, Minako is going to wind up thoroughly soaked by the time she gets over to her. there are some burns, cuts, and bruises on her body, but you'll have to transport her back to camp and do a body check for more deets on that.
be careful not to slip and fall, Minako! do your best!]
no subject
[ assuming she does, rachel will just go and fetch the sleeping back and drag it back to the edge of the water for minako's convenience. ]
no subject
well! she's... clambering over. and getting a body to haul back. thank god for the clothing drop on Wednesday, at least she won't have to run around in a wet uniform shirt all day.
hey how sharp are the rocks and how likely is Minako to get some cuts on her feet for the crime of bare feetsies ]
no subject
how focused on the body is she? is even watching where she's stepping, or nah?]
no subject
no subject
it's just. you know. slippery! sometimes things happen that are out of our hands. ]
no subject
she'll spot a something glinting in the water! it's submerged, but it seems to be stuck in a crevice between some rocks. hmmmm.]
no subject
does her hand fit into the crevice? bc she's 100% going to stick her hand in there with no idea if she can get it back ]
I think there's something here...!
no subject
her fingers curl around something that feels pretty inorganic, and when she pulls it out...
well.
it's c-3po's eye.]
no subject
well! that'll be useful. maybe. hopefully. into her pocket it goes!
back to, you know, retrieving Akane's dead body ]
no subject
give her a proper autopsy and/or burial in (checks clock) one hour when we return from break]
