WEEK TWO: TRIAL
Morning dawns bright and early the day after the announcement of the dead, and as the sun tracks its way across the sky, the voice's message is likely not far from anyone's mind. Friends are still missing, people are still dead, and time is running out.
Finally, the sun reaches its highest point. A low, deep thrumming sound echoes throughout the entire island, which turns into ringing, a drawn-out signal that grows louder and louder until it seems as though all other sounds on the island fall to a hush.
It is then that the lighthouse beacon becomes illuminated, drawing them all to the southern beach. That same voice as before rings, audible throughout the entire island.
Once the entire group has gathered, the lighthouse's beacon flickers out.
It is time to choose the next sacrifice... and hopefully, to catch a killer.
Good luck.

Twenty-four hours remain before the ritual must be completed, or you will all suffer the consequences. There is no consolation prize for less than eleven sacrifices.
You have until the sun vanishes beneath the horizon. Choose your next sacrifice, and choose who will dispatch them. Speak the names of your choices into the conch. Failure to cooperate will result in a fate worse than death.
...perhaps you should investigate the deaths. The bodies are out there, and the evidence as well... but you will have to find it yourselves.
...oh, and one more thing. There is a way to save yourselves...if you select the right sacrifice.

The entrance to the camp looks pretty normal. There are footprints coming and going, as you get when people are ... coming and going from a camp. The waterfall itself looms behind it, and there are a plethora of footprints leading towards it.

This has all been a lot, and it hasn't even been ten minutes. Shinobu is tired but won't allow herself to be. She's smiling so hard. It's almost scary. Wow. ]
We, once again, seem to have at least four routes for investigation. How would we like to start? How would we like to proceed?
[ There's more steel in her voice, less of her softness that belies her determination.

I say while C3PO-san's head is looked at, as well as Flayn-san, some of us should go into the island for other clues. I wish we had time to stop and process all of this at once with all the respect it deserves, but we don't have time.

But, hi. Hello. Neena's here after touching a robohead, politely laying 3-CPO's head on her folded up coat before addressing the group.]
Hey, um... It looks like 3-CPO-san's head was forced off, and one of his eyes was similarly removed by force. [Uneasily. Between this and Flayn just straight up dropping dead, she wants to nap for a thousand years.] He looked a little scorched, and there are small dents and scratches all over his head. I thought the scratches were from the sand, but I noticed a few of them looked like they might've been made with a knife after I cleaned him up.

The voice didn't mention his name yesterday. So, I wonder... Because he's not human, is it possible we can start him back up if we find the rest of his body? I don't know enough about machines like him, though, so someone else should take a closer look later.

Lady Flayn was uninjured. I checked over everywhere I could, and found no evidence of physical harm, short of bruises on her forearms that look a few days old. [ and a pair of pointy ears.... ] Her pockets contained some of the flowers we found in the jungle. [ he produces them for inspection in case anyone wants to see. ]
...However, I believe she may have been ill. Last night at camp, she was acting strangely, and when I checked her mouth, it smelled as if she'd vomited recently, and her tongue was redder than it should have been. Her muscles are also particularly stiff, more so than they should be for someone who left us merely moments ago. I don't think she's been eating much.

panic! at the waterfall camp
So, obviously, we found Akane. She was at the base of the waterfall, but not... as impaled as Marie, at least. Minako also found C3PO's eye down there? So I'm thinking that whatever happened to him started at the waterfall and the rest of him washed out to sea.
The camp itself was pretty normal. Lots of tracks coming and going, so there wasn't a whole lot to go off of. I checked Flayn's tent, and found all this...
[ rachel gestures to the two canteens she's carrying, and a staff that might look familiar to a few people! she'll hand the latter off to dimitri. ]
Nothing looked super out of the ordinary? Except for the two canteens. I don't know what's in them - one didn't smell like anything, and the other just smelled like vomit. I didn't want to try to taste test in case one of these is how Flayn got poisoned. So... Does anyone know where she would've gotten a second canteen?

waterfall top stuff
It's rather messy at the top of the waterfall. There's a lot of scorch damage and littered material up there... my apologies to whoever planted flowers, they do not seem to have survived whatever occurred there.

I found a knife up there - the same kinda we all found in our camping kits, I believe. It is blood-free, but it does look like it struck a hard surface and caused damage to the blade itself. The ground was littered with glass, silver and black metal, and something red? Like a big red button. I would suspect something was... denotated up there, perhaps?
Giyuu-san has awakened a newfound interest in dolls, so if anyone has any information on them please share with him. He seemed very curious. He also found a doll - one made of yarn? Which is a poor material choice for an area that seem to fall prey to fire and explosions I must say.
[ help. ] We also discovered a crystal -- Giyuu-san said it's warm? And a scorched seashell, and rock with a 3 carved onto it.

It appears like Akane's body did suffer a fall, but... I could not tell if that was the cause of death, because she had sustained other injuries.
There were cuts of varying degrees all over her body, some of them with glass shards embedded in it. And she suffered several burns, some quite severe... enough that in some places her skin had blackened, others not. Something about the burns was strange to me as well—they did not seem like they were caused solely by flame. She also had bruises scattered over her body and face from some sort of impact.

It was a violent end, and something had struck her from close range. It's strange, as though she were... caught in a blast or something. I also find it odd that she didn't have any personal belongings on her.

Kitagawa-san mentioned they found evidence of an explosion of some sort at the top of the waterfall. She might have been caught in a blast which threw her from the cliffs...

Hey, so, there wasn't anything at the ruins really, but the tunnel lead us to the jungle. There was, like, a trap that was set off, and a bloody rock, I think?
Two sets of prints. One was smaller than the other. I guess the other might've been Ogata's. And, uh, the bear. The bear was definitely there. [He hefts the gun around, but like safely...] Found this, too. Blood was everywhere.

I found this lodged in a tree. We tried to follow the bear tracks, but... We got a little lost on the way, and found some plants that looked like they might've been cultivated before we got there. We didn't find anything else before the bear found us, though.

[ giyuu is using his outdoor voice, which is basically him yelling "hey" at everyone to get their attention and to refocus on the subject at hand. he's been cranky all day and he isn't getting any less cranky. ]

I think it's safe to say Ogata-san died from the bear attack. He had claw marks on his torso and arms. But more importantly, he also had a small wound on his forehead, about here.
[ she indicates it on her own head for reference ]
It wasn't fatal, but it hit him hard enough to break skin. I think that he was probably struck by someone there, and while he was dazed, the bear killed him.
... Does anyone know what happened with the bear after it got out last week? I thought it was ignoring us. Why would it suddenly attack Ogata-san like that?

Finding the rock close to the trap makes me wonder if we should check around anyone's ankles or feet again. I didn't see anything on the men that I checked, but it's better to be safe than sorry with so little time left.

[There is a pause, and then a voice comes from the conch. Or rather - voices. The voices of everyone who spoke into the conch today.]
[The voice laughs to itself. The laughter is cruel and biting.]
[As suddenly as it began, it all stops.
