WEEK TWO: TRIAL
Morning dawns bright and early the day after the announcement of the dead, and as the sun tracks its way across the sky, the voice's message is likely not far from anyone's mind. Friends are still missing, people are still dead, and time is running out.
Finally, the sun reaches its highest point. A low, deep thrumming sound echoes throughout the entire island, which turns into ringing, a drawn-out signal that grows louder and louder until it seems as though all other sounds on the island fall to a hush.
It is then that the lighthouse beacon becomes illuminated, drawing them all to the southern beach. That same voice as before rings, audible throughout the entire island.
Once the entire group has gathered, the lighthouse's beacon flickers out.
It is time to choose the next sacrifice... and hopefully, to catch a killer.
Good luck.

"There are those of you who hope to escape from this with clean hands...you may find yourselves successful. Will it be worth it? You are all participants in this game, and you will all be complicit in the sacrifices that take place here, or else you will not have earned your passage home. Twenty-four hours remain before the ritual must be completed, or you will all suffer the consequences. There is no consolation prize for less than eleven sacrifices.
You have until the sun vanishes beneath the horizon. Choose your next sacrifice, and choose who will dispatch them. Speak the names of your choices into the conch. Failure to cooperate will result in a fate worse than death.
...perhaps you should investigate the deaths. The bodies are out there, and the evidence as well... but you will have to find it yourselves.
...oh, and one more thing. There is a way to save yourselves...if you select the right sacrifice.
Tick-tock, tick-tock! Your time starts... now."
Once the entire group has gathered, the lighthouse's beacon flickers out.
It is time to choose the next sacrifice... and hopefully, to catch a killer.
Good luck.
OOC NOTES
Welcome to your last trial, everyone! This trial will take place from 9am PST/12pm EST/4am NZST, and will last until 6pm PST/9pm EST/1pm NZST.
There will be a one-hour trial break from 1pm PST/4pm EST/8am NZST to 2pm PST/5pm EST/9am NZST. We recommend that you use this time to get something to eat if you haven't yet already, play some Animal Crossing, or even just take a quick nap. During this time, no mod tags will go out; we also ask that players refrain from starting any intensive threads such as interrogations, strip searches, hair or injury comparisons, etc. While we're not going to say you're not allowed to tag during this time, we also don't want anyone to miss out on anything important during an official break.
Please remember to have your character cast a vote on the voting page! Voting is mandatory, as it functions as the activity check for the game. If you do not cast a vote by the time trial is over, your character will be killed off. Please contact the mods prior to the end of the trial if something comes up and you are prevented from voting (i.e. 504 errors, etc).
If you have any questions, please go ahead and ask! Your mods and fellow players are always here to help. And most of all... have fun!

the bot is back~
It's also accompanied by one very upset voice, garbled and mixed up at first, but then clearing up:]
Oh! No, wait! Don't come any clos—
no subject
she shrieks, startled. it's a good thing she doesn't punch him away, considering she was dealing with him, but.]
—3-CPO-san?! You're okay! It's Neena!
no subject
Miss Tanzawa? Oh, dear, what's happened to me?
no subject
[She gently puts on hand on his,,,,,,, shoulder. Can he even feel that?]
How do you feel? Can you see me?
no subject
Oh I feel terrible, Miss Tanzawa. Why would someone try to take me apart? I don't have anything to do with this!
[He looks at his missing arms and legs]
Oh, dear! My appendages!
no subject
[There, there, fussbot...]
What's the last thing you remember? The way you reacted when you woke up... Was someone trying to hurt you?

she'll stay out of flailing distance, but greets him calmly ]
Welcome back, C-3PO-san. I think I have something of yours.
no subject
Something of mine? I'm having difficulty seeing properly.
no subject
[ and she produces it from her pocket with a flourish ]
Can you fix it yourself, or do you need me to put it back in?
no subject
[He looks at the eye she's holding, then at Minako, at his lack of arms, then back at Minako]
I don't believe I'm able to replace it myself at the moment.
no subject
[ also looks at his lack of arms. oops ]
Ah, right, my bad. Walk me through how this is supposed to go? Do I just... stick it in?

Who was approaching you?
no subject
Approaching me? My apologies, Master Giyuu, but I'm a bit confused. Are we all gathered on the beach again? Where are the others?
[He looks around at the beach]
no subject
[ sorry, he is in no mood to fluff things up. he's a man who needs answers—chop chop. he isn't going to hustle 3po, but he isn't going to be exactly patient with him either. ]
You were in the middle of telling someone not to come closer. Who was it?
no subject
I'm afraid I can't recall. Perhaps it was old data? My most recent memory is powering down at exactly 2300 hours, as with last week.
[He looks at his empty shoulder sockets and none lower half]
Although I suppose it's possible my memory sustained some damage.
no subject
does giyuu understand what any of that means? no, what he can get is the fact that the robot doesn't know who attacked him and that his memory has been damaged by it. great!! the moment they have someone(??) would be able to clue them in on a person, it would end like this. ]
Even with this we still have no more new information.

C-3PO! Thank goodness—you're alive!
no subject
[Threepio's torso-head combo is swept up in the hug]
Yes, Miss Kanroji! I am glad to see you are here, as well. How long was I shut down?
no subject
You were gone for over a day. We looked everywhere for you. I was so afraid that we'd lost you!
no subject
[a pause as Threepio looks around from his newly heightened vantage point]
It does seem that the rest of me is lost, at the moment.

Oh, hello, Miss Kocho. I'm glad to see you are well.
The last record I have in my memory is of shutting down at precisely 2300 hours, similar to last week. I presume this happened to everyone again?
no subject
[ Murderers stay awake. ]
I'm glad you are here, but that your memory stops there is unfortunate. It seems that you didn't quite shut down then.
no subject
Although I don't have any record, it does seem I was active at some point.
