WEEK TWO: TRIAL

Morning dawns bright and early the day after the announcement of the dead, and as the sun tracks its way across the sky, the voice's message is likely not far from anyone's mind. Friends are still missing, people are still dead, and time is running out.

Finally, the sun reaches its highest point. A low, deep thrumming sound echoes throughout the entire island, which turns into ringing, a drawn-out signal that grows louder and louder until it seems as though all other sounds on the island fall to a hush.

It is then that the lighthouse beacon becomes illuminated, drawing them all to the southern beach. That same voice as before rings, audible throughout the entire island.

"There are those of you who hope to escape from this with clean hands...you may find yourselves successful. Will it be worth it? You are all participants in this game, and you will all be complicit in the sacrifices that take place here, or else you will not have earned your passage home. Twenty-four hours remain before the ritual must be completed, or you will all suffer the consequences. There is no consolation prize for less than eleven sacrifices.

You have until the sun vanishes beneath the horizon. Choose your next sacrifice, and choose who will dispatch them. Speak the names of your choices into the conch. Failure to cooperate will result in a fate worse than death.

...perhaps you should investigate the deaths. The bodies are out there, and the evidence as well... but you will have to find it yourselves.

...oh, and one more thing. There is a way to save yourselves...if you select the right sacrifice.

Tick-tock, tick-tock! Your time starts... now."

Once the entire group has gathered, the lighthouse's beacon flickers out.

It is time to choose the next sacrifice... and hopefully, to catch a killer.

OOC NOTES

Welcome to your last trial, everyone! This trial will take place from 9am PST/12pm EST/4am NZST, and will last until 6pm PST/9pm EST/1pm NZST.

There will be a one-hour trial break from 1pm PST/4pm EST/8am NZST to 2pm PST/5pm EST/9am NZST. We recommend that you use this time to get something to eat if you haven't yet already, play some Animal Crossing, or even just take a quick nap. During this time, no mod tags will go out; we also ask that players refrain from starting any intensive threads such as interrogations, strip searches, hair or injury comparisons, etc. While we're not going to say you're not allowed to tag during this time, we also don't want anyone to miss out on anything important during an official break.

Please remember to have your character cast a vote on the voting page! Voting is mandatory, as it functions as the activity check for the game. If you do not cast a vote by the time trial is over, your character will be killed off. Please contact the mods prior to the end of the trial if something comes up and you are prevented from voting (i.e. 504 errors, etc).

[It's fine. Neena likes Mitsuri, so she smiles.]

That's all right with me. Is someone helping you, too, Kanroji-san?

[Mitsuri loves Neena! She starts to lead them away from the others for somewhere quieter.]

I'll find someone to check me after you. Where should we go?

[lacking]

Oh— Then, why don't I help you after you're done lending me a hand?

[She glances around... and gestures at some spot that's nicely covered by foliage or something.]

What about over there?

[bridesque]

[Nodding, she looks toward the indicated spot.]

Thank you, Tanzawa. And good eye!

[She nods, offering her a weak smile, and off the go.

Once they're secluded, Neena will sigh and just... get it over with, with a look of resignation on her face. She's not wearing her coat or pantyhose this time, so she unbuttons the top of her dress like last time and shrugs it off. Her dress is cinched at the waist, but Mitsuri will get a good enough view of everything above that. Once that's done, she gathers up the skirt and lifts it to reveal her leggies up to mid-thigh.

She's still wearing her shoes, but her upper half and legs seem fine.]

[bridesque]

[Understandably, Tanzawa is uncomfortable. Out of consideration for her, Mitsuri makes the check swift but thorough. Once she's verified that the legs are fine, she looks up at Tanzawa with an apologetic smile.]

I'm sorry, but this will be over soon. May I see your hands and feet?

Y-Yes... That's all right.

[Mitsuri is a saint. Neena nods, letting go of her skirt so she can pull her shoes off. Once that's done, she holds her hands out for Mitsuri to see. The back of her hands are fine, though she has some very light, barely visible abrasions on the palms of her hands. They're almost fully healed.]

[bridesque]

[Her features soften at the abrasions. In a place like this, it's only natural to sport such marks. Next, she crouches down again to take a look at Tanzawa's feet.]

[Her feet are a little gross, considering their situation, but they're otherwise alright! She wears shoes everywhere she goes, unlike some people.]

[ don't judge just because you were lucky enough to come onto this island with shoes >:( ]

[bridesque]

[Her feet are beautiful. It's fine. They can't always look like models. But being here on this island must be hard on Tanzawa.]

That should be everything, I think. It's my turn now, isn't it?

[Starting with her pockets, which yield the folding knife. Her sword is strapped to her hip; the canteen, slung around her shoulder. The bruises on her shoulders from last week have healed, leaving her with virtually no wounds other than a healing scrape on one of her legs. Although her socks are tattered all around, she's insisted on wearing them.]

[Mitsuri, please....... She gives her a grateful smile before buttoning up and putting her shoes back on. Also, I forgot to do inventory. But all Neena has on her is her canteen and knife.]

Thank you, Kanroji-san. I'll make this quick.

[Is she stripping down, or will Neena have to ask her?]

[bridesque]

You're very kind, Tanzawa.

[She is indeed stripping down. This is something that must be done, so she doesn't hesitate to strip down to her underclothes. Even the socks go, albeit with care; if she were to tear them beyond repair, she'd cry.

But as stated previously, the only abnormality is the scrape.]

I went exploring with Minako earlier this week. There were traps all over the jungle, and one of them grazed me.
