WEEK TWO: TRIAL
Morning dawns bright and early the day after the announcement of the dead, and as the sun tracks its way across the sky, the voice's message is likely not far from anyone's mind. Friends are still missing, people are still dead, and time is running out.
Finally, the sun reaches its highest point. A low, deep thrumming sound echoes throughout the entire island, which turns into ringing, a drawn-out signal that grows louder and louder until it seems as though all other sounds on the island fall to a hush.
It is then that the lighthouse beacon becomes illuminated, drawing them all to the southern beach. That same voice as before rings, audible throughout the entire island.
Once the entire group has gathered, the lighthouse's beacon flickers out.
It is time to choose the next sacrifice... and hopefully, to catch a killer.
Good luck.

"There are those of you who hope to escape from this with clean hands...you may find yourselves successful. Will it be worth it? You are all participants in this game, and you will all be complicit in the sacrifices that take place here, or else you will not have earned your passage home. Twenty-four hours remain before the ritual must be completed, or you will all suffer the consequences. There is no consolation prize for less than eleven sacrifices.
You have until the sun vanishes beneath the horizon. Choose your next sacrifice, and choose who will dispatch them. Speak the names of your choices into the conch. Failure to cooperate will result in a fate worse than death.
...perhaps you should investigate the deaths. The bodies are out there, and the evidence as well... but you will have to find it yourselves.
...oh, and one more thing. There is a way to save yourselves...if you select the right sacrifice.
Tick-tock, tick-tock! Your time starts... now."
Once the entire group has gathered, the lighthouse's beacon flickers out.
It is time to choose the next sacrifice... and hopefully, to catch a killer.
Good luck.
OOC NOTES
Welcome to your last trial, everyone! This trial will take place from 9am PST/12pm EST/4am NZST, and will last until 6pm PST/9pm EST/1pm NZST.
There will be a one-hour trial break from 1pm PST/4pm EST/8am NZST to 2pm PST/5pm EST/9am NZST. We recommend that you use this time to get something to eat if you haven't yet already, play some Animal Crossing, or even just take a quick nap. During this time, no mod tags will go out; we also ask that players refrain from starting any intensive threads such as interrogations, strip searches, hair or injury comparisons, etc. While we're not going to say you're not allowed to tag during this time, we also don't want anyone to miss out on anything important during an official break.
Please remember to have your character cast a vote on the voting page! Voting is mandatory, as it functions as the activity check for the game. If you do not cast a vote by the time trial is over, your character will be killed off. Please contact the mods prior to the end of the trial if something comes up and you are prevented from voting (i.e. 504 errors, etc).
If you have any questions, please go ahead and ask! Your mods and fellow players are always here to help. And most of all... have fun!

But as a wave washes out to shore, it unearths... something else that glints copper, a little further down the beach. It's half-buried in sand.]
no subject
[A foot! She juggles it between her hands for a moment to figure out the orientation. She looks over her shoulder at Threepio.]
This must be your foot!
[Abandoning the lighthouse for the time being, she jogs over to the source of the glint in the shore.]
no subject
[watching from Mitsuri's back as they move away from the lighthouse, Threepio takes a moment to quickly scan from the base to the top with his infrared sensors, mainly to see if anyone is in there]
no subject
Threepio doesn't see any heat signatures in the lighthouse as they move away from it. Mitsuri, on the other hand, is able to unearth... what appears to be a left arm! This one includes the hand.
Out in the ocean, there's another glint of copper bobbing in the waves.]
no subject
It looks like most of your limbs washed up here. Maybe we'll be able to put you back together before the day is over!
no subject
[keeping in Infrared Mode, he scans the ocean as well—for anything that's not distinctly fish-shaped, anyway]
no subject
Unfortunately, Threepio's infrared is only turning up fish in the water.
However, there's another glint as they head back to the beach...!]
no subject
I'm sorry if that feels a little crowded. We'll put you back together once we've returned!
[She spins around and makes for the glint, which is hopefully copper-colored.]
no subject
[continuing to look at the lighthouse, particularly at the dormant light, he suddenly remembers everyone wanting him to look at footprints and so he looks down at the ground to see what he can see as Mitsuri rushes about. Any fresh-looking ones or ones to/from strange directions? Entrances to more secret tunnels?]
If I may ask, what are we hoping to find at the lighthouse?
no subject
Honestly, the freshest-looking footsteps are Mitsuri's. She has been rushing about in this area, after all!
And just a liiiiittle further away is... another coppery glint. You're almost there! Go, go, go!]
no subject
[That breaks her heart! Her chest aches! A sweet, mechanical creature like Threepio deserves better! In her shock, she doesn't answer the question right away, though she does bend down to grab his arm amid her confusion.
Then it's off to another spot of glint.]
no subject
[While riding along, he begins to look over his various pieces that are in the bag with him. How are those looking, damage-wise? Seem kinda intact?]
no subject
his missing leg! complete with a foot this time! and if i counted right that should be all of his limbs. they're a little scuffed up and a bit waterlogged - they may need some maintenance to make sure they don't rust.
but they do, at least, seem mostly intact!
it should be possible to put threepio back together again with the proper tools now.]
no subject
With his limbs secured, Mitsuri looks around their surroundings as she—for the sake of being thorough—heads back to the lighthouse.]
Did you see anything strange?
no subject
If we're able to enter the building, I could do my best to assist in identifying anything technological in nature, although I confess it's not my specialty.
[He checks his internal clock]
Oh, we should hurry, though, Miss Kanroji! If the broadcast is at the same time, then we have less than 30 minutes.
no subject
and the lighthouse is the same as ever.]
